The falls itself straddle the border of two countries: to one side (our side) is Argentina, and opposite it (what we're facing) is Brazil. While they do seem to have the prettier side of the falls — a fact they don't hide in their brochures — Argentina likes to point out that you can only see it from their side. (The Portuguese version of the Argentinian brochure actually has "Duh" written in it, just to rub it in.)
